What does the Jeevan Labh calculator do?
LIC Jeevan Labh is one of LIC’s best-selling savings plans: a limited premium, with-profit endowment policy. You pay premiums for fewer years than the policy runs, and at the end you receive the sum assured plus bonuses. The plan has existed in three versions:
| Version | Sold | Status | Death cover multiple |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan 836 | January 2016 to early 2020 | Withdrawn | 10 × annual premium |
| Plan 936 (UIN 512N304V02) | February 2020 to 1 October 2024 | Withdrawn | 7 × annual premium |
| Plan 736 (UIN 512N304V03) | From October 2024 | Available | 7 × annual premium |
This calculator covers all three. New buyers should use 736. If you already hold a 936 or 836 policy, pick that version to check your premium and estimate your maturity amount.
For every combination, the tool shows the yearly premium, the instalment for your chosen mode, total premium paid, estimated bonus, maturity value, death benefit and the IRR, which is the real yearly return on your money.
We are an independent website, not LIC. All figures are estimates; your policy document or an LIC agent gives the exact amount.
How it works
Eligibility built in
| Policy term | Premium paying term | Entry age |
|---|---|---|
| 16 years | 10 years | 8 to 59 |
| 21 years | 15 years | 8 to 54 |
| 25 years | 16 years | 8 to 50 |
The minimum sum assured is ₹2 lakh, and the maximum age at maturity is 75. The calculator will not accept a combination outside these limits.
Premium
LIC uses a rate per ₹1,000 sum assured that depends on your age, term and plan version. This tool has no rate table of its own: it sends your inputs to the plan calculator for the version you pick, so its figures match our Plan 736, 936 and 836 pages. For 736, the rates follow the sample premiums in LIC’s published brochure, which are the same for men and women. Each plan calculator:
- reads the rate for your age, interpolating between table ages;
- subtracts a high sum assured rebate for ₹5 lakh and above;
- applies modal loading if you pay half-yearly, quarterly or monthly.
Since 22 September 2025, individual life insurance premiums are free of GST, so the premium shown is the full amount you pay. Older 936 and 836 receipts may show 4.5% or 2.25% GST, which applied before that date.
Maturity and IRR
- Maturity value = sum assured + (bonus rate × sum assured ÷ 1,000 × policy term) + an assumed final additional bonus.
- IRR treats each premium as money going out at the start of the year and the maturity amount as money coming in at the end. The rate that balances the two is your annual return.
Worked example
A 30-year-old takes Jeevan Labh 736 with ₹10 lakh sum assured for 21 years, paying yearly, with the default bonus of ₹45.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Yearly premium | ₹55,505 |
| Premium paying term | 15 years |
| Total premium paid | ₹8,32,575 |
| Estimated bonus (incl. final bonus) | ₹11,39,500 |
| Maturity value at age 51 | ₹21,39,500 |
| Minimum death cover | ₹10,00,000 + bonuses |
| IRR | 6.68% a year |
Paying monthly instead, each instalment is about ₹4,725, and the total over 15 years rises to ₹8,50,500 because of modal loading.
The same inputs under Plan 936 give a yearly premium of ₹52,000 and an IRR of about 6.99%. Under Plan 836, the premium is ₹42,140. The 936 figures are for a man, since our 936 table is gender-wise.
Tip: test a lower bonus. Changing the bonus from ₹45 to ₹38 cuts the maturity to about ₹19.78 lakh and the IRR to about 6.1%. Plan with the cautious figure.
Premium at a glance (Plan 736, ₹10 lakh)

How to read the results
- Yearly premium is what you pay each year in yearly mode. The instalment line shows the amount per debit for other modes.
- Estimated maturity amount is the headline figure. Only the sum assured part is guaranteed; the rest depends on bonuses LIC declares.
- Sum assured on death is the minimum amount your nominee receives. Accrued bonuses are added on top.
- IRR lets you compare Jeevan Labh with PPF, FDs or a debt mutual fund. Around 5–7% with life cover is typical for a with-profit endowment plan.
The donut chart splits the maturity value into what you paid and what you gained.
Tips and common mistakes
- Don’t compare the maturity amount with total premium alone. ₹21.4 lakh against ₹8.33 lakh looks like more than double your money, but it is spread over 21 years. The IRR is the fairer yardstick.
- Choose the term by your goal date. A 16-year term suits a goal 16 years away, such as a child’s college, even though the premium is higher.
- Pay yearly if possible. It avoids the extra cost of monthly or quarterly modes.
- Don’t surrender early. Surrender value in the first few years is well below the premiums paid. If you need cash, a policy loan is usually the better option.
- Life cover is modest. ₹10 lakh of cover may not protect your family. Pair the plan with a pure term policy if you have dependants.

Frequently asked questions
What is the premium for LIC Jeevan Labh with ₹10 lakh sum assured?
For a 30-year-old choosing a 21-year term under Plan 736, our calculator estimates about ₹55,505 a year for 15 years. At age 25 it is about ₹55,310, and at age 40 about ₹57,270, for the same term and cover. The rate is the same for men and women.
How much will I get at maturity from Jeevan Labh?
Maturity is the sum assured plus all yearly bonuses plus any final additional bonus. With ₹10 lakh cover for 21 years and a ₹45 bonus, the calculator shows about ₹21.4 lakh: ₹9.45 lakh of yearly bonus plus an assumed final bonus of about ₹1.95 lakh. Bonus is not guaranteed.
What return does Jeevan Labh give?
At a ₹45 bonus rate, the 21-year Plan 736 example works out to an IRR of about 6.7% a year. At ₹38 it falls to about 6.1%. Treat these as estimates, since bonus rates change every year.
What is the difference between Jeevan Labh 736, 936 and 836?
All three have the same 16/21/25-year terms and 10/15/16-year premium terms. Plan 836 (2016–2020) paid a death cover of 10 times the annual premium; 936 and 736 use 7 times. Plan 736 is the only version on sale now. The calculator runs each version through its own plan calculator.
What is the premium paying term in Jeevan Labh?
You pay for 10 years on a 16-year policy, 15 years on a 21-year policy and 16 years on a 25-year policy. Cover and bonuses then continue without premiums until maturity.
Is GST charged on Jeevan Labh premium?
Not any more. Individual life insurance premiums have been exempt from GST since 22 September 2025. Before that, Jeevan Labh premiums carried 4.5% GST in the first year and 2.25% afterwards, which is why older receipts show higher amounts.
Can I use this calculator for my existing Jeevan Labh 936 policy?
Yes. Select 936, enter your gender, age at entry, term and sum assured. The premium should be close to what your policy schedule shows, and the maturity estimate tells you roughly what to expect at the end.
