What is LIC Jeevan Arogya Plan 903?

LIC Jeevan Arogya (Plan 903, UIN 512N266V01) was launched on 1 June 2011, LIC’s first step into health insurance. It is a non-linked, non-participating plan that pays fixed cash amounts when an insured member is hospitalised or has surgery. The payout does not depend on the actual bill, so it can be claimed alongside a mediclaim policy.

LIC later revised the plan into Jeevan Arogya 904, and Jeevan Arogya is no longer sold today. This page helps existing 903 policyholders understand their premium and benefits.

Adults can join from 18: the principal insured and spouse up to 65 and parents up to 75. Children are covered from 91 days to 17 years at entry. Cover continues up to age 80 for adults and 25 for children.

How the premium is calculated

The source table gives a yearly premium per ₹1,000 of daily cash at five-year age points: separate rates for men, women and children. The calculator interpolates between those points, scales by your daily benefit and adds each covered member. Half-yearly, quarterly and monthly modes carry small loadings of 1%, 1.5% and 2%.

Worked example (₹2,000 a day):

Family Yearly premium
Man 35, alone ₹4,951
Man 35 + wife 32 ₹8,596 (₹731 a month)
Man 35 + wife 32 + child 4 ₹10,185
Couple + ₹5 lakh accident rider ₹9,096

For a 40-year-old man alone at ₹1,000 a day, the premium is about ₹2,800 a year.

Tip: the hospital cash grows each year, but your premium also rises as you move into older age bands. Check the renewal notice every three years, when rates can be revised.

Benefits

  • Hospital cash benefit: the chosen daily amount for each day in hospital, rising by 5% of the initial amount a year up to 1.5 times.
  • Major surgical benefit: a percentage of the surgical sum assured for about 140 listed major surgeries.
  • Day-care procedures: 5 times the daily cash for listed procedures that do not need an overnight stay.
  • Other surgeries: 2 times the daily cash for each day in hospital.
  • Premium waiver: the next year’s premium is waived after a major surgical claim.
  • Ambulance: a small fixed amount towards ambulance charges.

Jeevan Arogya 903 vs 904

Plan 904 kept the same fixed-benefit idea and family structure. It refined the premium table to single-year ages, limited payment to yearly or half-yearly mode and added flat rebates on higher daily benefits. Compare the two using the Jeevan Arogya 904 calculator. LIC’s later Arogya Rakshak 906 has also been withdrawn, so new buyers should compare health policies from health or general insurers.

How to use this calculator

Enter the principal insured’s age and gender, choose the daily cash, add your spouse, children and rider, and pick the premium mode. The calculator shows the total premium, instalment amount and the benefit figures for one member. Treat the premium as an estimate.
