What is LIC Anmol Jeevan II Plan 822?

LIC Anmol Jeevan II (Plan 822) is a regular premium, non-participating, pure protection term plan. If the life assured dies during the policy term, LIC pays the sum assured to the nominee. If the life assured survives, nothing is paid. There is no bonus, no surrender value and no loan.

How the premium is calculated

The premium is a rate per ₹1,000 of sum assured that depends on gender, age and term. The calculator interpolates between the published age and term points, then:

  1. multiplies the rate by sum assured ÷ 1,000 to get the yearly premium;
  2. for half-yearly mode, charges 51% of the yearly premium per instalment;
  3. adds no GST. Individual life policies are GST-exempt from 22 September 2025. Before that, 18% GST was added to term premiums, so older receipts will show a higher total.

Worked example 1: a 30-year-old man takes ₹10 lakh cover for 25 years. He pays about ₹1,750 a year, ₹43,750 over the full term, and is covered until age 55.

Worked example 2: a 35-year-old woman takes ₹20 lakh cover for 20 years. She pays about ₹3,400 a year, ₹68,000 in total.

Tip: if you hold an 822 policy, keep it in force. Starting a new term plan at an older age will usually cost more, and a fresh medical check may be needed.

Death benefit

On death during the term, with the policy in force, the nominee receives the full sum assured in one lump sum. The claim is settled on submission of the death certificate, claim forms and policy documents.

Tax benefits

  • Premiums: deduction under Section 123 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 80C) (old regime).
  • Death claim: tax-free under Section 11 read with Schedule II of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 10(10D)).

Anmol Jeevan II vs Amulya Jeevan II

Frequently asked questions

When was LIC Anmol Jeevan II 822 launched and withdrawn?

LIC launched Anmol Jeevan II in 2014 as the successor to Anmol Jeevan I (Plan 164). It was withdrawn from sale on 1 February 2020. Existing policies stay in force for their full term as long as premiums are paid.

What is the premium for Anmol Jeevan II 822?

It depends on gender, age, term and cover. In this calculator a 30-year-old man with ₹10 lakh cover for 25 years pays about ₹1,750 a year, and a 35-year-old woman with ₹20 lakh for 20 years pays about ₹3,400 a year.

What is the sum assured range in Plan 822?

The minimum sum assured is ₹6 lakh and the maximum is ₹24 lakh. For covers of ₹25 lakh and above, LIC offered its sister plan Amulya Jeevan II (Plan 823) during the same period.

Is there any maturity benefit in Anmol Jeevan II?

No. Anmol Jeevan II is a pure protection plan. If the life assured survives the policy term, no amount is paid. The low premium reflects the fact that there is no savings element.

What happens if I miss a premium in Plan 822?

There is a grace period of one month for yearly and half-yearly premiums. If the premium is still unpaid after that, the policy lapses and the cover stops. It can be revived within the revival period by paying arrears and meeting LIC's health requirements.

Is the death claim under LIC 822 taxable?

No. The death benefit received by the nominee is tax-free under Schedule II (earlier Section 10(10D)). Premiums paid qualify for deduction under Section 123 (earlier 80C) in the old tax regime.
