What is LIC New Jeevan Anand Plan 815?

LIC New Jeevan Anand 815 (UIN 512N279V01) is a participating, non-linked endowment plan with lifelong cover. It was LIC’s updated version of the older Jeevan Anand Plan 149, launched in 2014 after IRDA’s 2013 product rules, and it was sold until 31 January 2020. From 1 February 2020 LIC replaced it with New Jeevan Anand 915.

You pay premiums for the whole policy term. At maturity you receive the sum assured plus bonuses, and afterwards the policy keeps a life cover equal to the basic sum assured for the rest of your life. This page and calculator are meant for existing 815 policyholders.

How the 815 premium is calculated

The calculator uses a tabular rate for every age and term from 15 to 35 years, then applies the rebates this version offered:

  1. Rate × sum assured ÷ 1,000 gives the base yearly premium.
  2. High sum assured rebate: ₹1.50 per ₹1,000 from ₹2 lakh, ₹2.50 from ₹5 lakh and ₹3 from ₹10 lakh.
  3. Mode rebate: 2% for yearly and 1% for half-yearly payment.
  4. No GST is added. Individual life insurance premiums have been GST-exempt since 22 September 2025; before that, LIC charged 4.5% in the first year and 2.25% after.

Example 1: age 30, ₹10 lakh, 21 years, yearly mode: about ₹51,646 a year, or ₹10,84,566 over the term.

Example 2: age 35, ₹5 lakh, 25 years, monthly mode: about ₹2,423 a month, ₹7,26,900 in total, for an estimated maturity of ₹11,37,500.

Tip: the premium on your receipt is the final word. Use the calculator mainly to estimate what you will receive and to check how much cover your family has.

Maturity benefit

On survival to the end of the term: basic sum assured + simple reversionary bonuses + final additional bonus. Bonus rates for this plan have typically been around ₹41–45 per ₹1,000 for 15–20 year terms and about ₹49 for longer terms. In example 1, a ₹49 bonus adds ₹10,29,000 and a ₹50 final additional bonus adds ₹50,000, for an estimated ₹20,79,000 at maturity.

Death benefit and lifelong cover

  • During the term: sum assured on death (the higher of 125% of basic sum assured or 10 times the annualised premium) plus accrued bonuses and any final additional bonus. In example 1 that is at least ₹12,50,000; in the last policy year the total would be about ₹23,29,000.
  • After maturity: the basic sum assured (₹10 lakh in the example) is paid to the nominee on death, whenever it happens, with no premiums due.

Loan, surrender and riders

After three full years of premiums you can take a loan or surrender the policy. Surrendering early usually returns less than you paid; check the numbers with our LIC surrender value calculator first. If you stop paying after three years, the policy becomes paid-up with a reduced sum assured. Riders such as accident and disability benefit could be added at purchase.

Tax benefits

Premiums qualify for Section 123 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 80C) (old regime). Maturity and death proceeds are generally tax-free under Section 11 read with Schedule II of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 10(10D)) as long as the yearly premium stays within 10% of the sum assured, which is normally the case for Jeevan Anand.

Frequently asked questions

Is LIC New Jeevan Anand 815 still available?

No. Plan 815 was withdrawn for new sales on 1 February 2020 and replaced by New Jeevan Anand 915, which was itself replaced by Plan 715 in October 2024. Existing 815 policies continue with all their benefits until maturity and, after that, with lifelong cover.

What is the maturity amount of Jeevan Anand 815?

At maturity you get the basic sum assured, all simple reversionary bonuses and any final additional bonus. For ₹10 lakh over 21 years, a ₹49 bonus and a ₹50 per ₹1,000 final bonus, our calculator estimates about ₹20,79,000. Actual bonuses depend on LIC's yearly declarations.

What is the death benefit in Jeevan Anand 815?

During the term, the nominee gets the sum assured on death plus bonuses. Sum assured on death is the higher of 125% of the basic sum assured or 10 times the annualised premium. After maturity, the basic sum assured is paid on death at any age.

When can I take a loan on Jeevan Anand 815?

A loan is available after at least three full years of premiums have been paid, as a percentage of the surrender value. The same three-year rule applies for surrender. Later versions (915 and 715) reduced this to two years.

What is the difference between Jeevan Anand 815 and 915?

Both have the same entry age, term and maturity age limits and give lifelong cover after maturity. Plan 915 changed the death cover floor from 10 to 7 times the annualised premium, allowed loans and surrender after two years instead of three, and used revised premium rates.

Does my Jeevan Anand 815 policy end at maturity?

No. The maturity amount is paid, but the policy continues as whole-life cover equal to the basic sum assured, with no further premiums. Keep the policy bond safe and make sure your nominee details are up to date.
