What is LIC Jeevan Bharati-I Plan 192?
LIC Jeevan Bharati-I (Plan 192, UIN 512N247V01) is a traditional money back policy designed only for women. It combines three things: regular cash at five-year intervals, a lump sum with bonuses at maturity, and life cover that stays at the full sum assured throughout the term.
The plan is withdrawn. LIC stopped new sales at the end of 2013, when many older plans were closed under revised product rules. Existing policyholders continue to receive every benefit, and the calculator above helps you see what your policy should pay and when.

How the premium is calculated
The premium is a fixed rate per ₹1,000 sum assured, based on age and term. The 20-year term is cheaper per year because the premiums are spread over more years. For ₹10 lakh cover, a 30-year-old woman pays about ₹75,700 a year on a 15-year term and ₹60,550 on a 20-year term. The chart under the calculator shows other ages.
No GST is added. Individual life insurance premiums are GST-exempt from 22 September 2025. Older receipts show GST at 4.5% in the first year and 2.25% after, the rates that applied before that date.
Worked example 1: a 30-year-old takes ₹5 lakh for 20 years. She pays ₹30,275 a year, ₹6,05,500 in total. She receives ₹1,00,000 at years 5, 10 and 15. At maturity she gets the remaining ₹2,00,000 plus about ₹4,00,000 of bonus at an assumed ₹40 per ₹1,000. Total: about ₹9,00,000.
Worked example 2: a 35-year-old takes ₹3 lakh for 15 years. She pays ₹22,875 a year (₹3,43,125 in total), gets ₹60,000 at years 5 and 10, and about ₹3,60,000 at maturity. Total: about ₹4,80,000.

Money back and maturity benefit
| Policy year | 15-year term | 20-year term |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 20% of SA | 20% of SA |
| 10 | 20% of SA | 20% of SA |
| 15 | 60% of SA + bonuses (maturity) | 20% of SA |
| 20 | — | 40% of SA + bonuses (maturity) |
Bonuses are calculated on the full sum assured, not on the amount left after the money back payments. Our source also mentions an option to take the maturity proceeds as an annuity.
Death benefit
If the policyholder dies during the term, the nominee gets the full sum assured plus vested bonuses and any final additional bonus. Money back already paid is not deducted. Our sources list accident benefit, critical illness and congenital disability riders, so check your policy schedule for any rider you took.
Loan and surrender
Like most LIC endowment-type policies, a Jeevan Bharati-I policy acquires a surrender value after the minimum premiums have been paid. Stopping early usually costs you part of the bonus. Estimate the exit value with the surrender value calculator before deciding.
Who should keep it, and what to buy now
If you hold this policy, keeping it to maturity is usually best, because the later years carry most of the bonus. New buyers cannot take Plan 192. Women looking for a similar money back structure today can compare LIC Bima Lakshmi 881 or a general money back plan with our money back policy calculator.
