What is LIC Jeevan Ankur Plan 807?

LIC Jeevan Ankur (Plan 807) is a child plan in which the parent is insured and the child is the beneficiary. Its main strength is what happens if the parent dies during the term: the child gets the full sum assured straight away and a yearly income of 10% of the sum assured until the policy’s end date. If the parent survives, the policy pays the sum assured plus loyalty additions at maturity, usually timed for college years.

The plan was launched in January 2012 and withdrawn on 1 January 2014, so this page is written for existing policyholders.

How the premium is estimated

The rate table circulating online for this plan gave clearly wrong results: ₹130 to ₹235 per ₹1,000 of cover, and premiums that went up when the term got longer. We rebuilt the rates from the plan’s design: a savings part that falls as the term gets longer (in line with LIC endowment plans) plus a cost of cover for the parent’s age, which rises with the term because of the income benefit. Women are rated three years younger. The results are indicative.

Example 1: a 35-year-old father with a 5-year-old child takes ₹5,00,000 cover for 15 years. The premium is about ₹34,103 a year, or ₹5,11,545 in total.

Example 2: a 32-year-old father with a 2-year-old child chooses ₹10,00,000 for 20 years. The premium is about ₹51,684 a year.

Tip: the income benefit makes Jeevan Ankur more valuable the earlier the parent dies. For a 20-year policy with ₹10 lakh cover, a claim in year one pays ₹10 lakh now and ₹1 lakh a year for 19 years, ₹29 lakh in all.

Maturity benefit

If the parent survives, the child receives the basic sum assured plus loyalty additions. Loyalty additions depend on LIC’s experience and are declared near maturity. The calculator assumes ₹20 per ₹1,000 per year of term, which is adjustable. On that basis:

  • ₹5 lakh for 15 years: loyalty about ₹1,50,000, maturity about ₹6,50,000.
  • ₹10 lakh for 20 years: loyalty about ₹4,00,000, maturity about ₹14,00,000.

Death benefit in detail

If the parent dies during the term:

  1. the sum assured is paid to the child (through the guardian) immediately, and
  2. an income of 10% of the sum assured is paid every year until the end of the term.

The calculator’s table shows the total the child would receive for a death in each policy year.

Tax benefits

Premiums qualified under Section 123 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 80C) and the claim or maturity amount is generally tax-free under Section 11 read with Schedule II of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 10(10D)), subject to the conditions at issue. From 22 September 2025, there is no GST on individual life insurance premiums.

Jeevan Ankur vs Jeevan Anurag

Both are older LIC child plans, but they solve different problems. Jeevan Anurag 168 pays planned education instalments (20% of the sum assured in each of the last three years and 40% at maturity). Jeevan Ankur focuses on replacing the parent’s income with a yearly payout after death. For a new policy today, compare LIC’s Jeevan Tarun 734 or use the child plan calculator.

How to use this calculator

  1. Pick the parent’s gender and age.
  2. Enter the child’s age; the term list adjusts.
  3. Choose the term, sum assured and premium type.
  4. Read the premium, maturity estimate, yearly income and death benefit table. These are independent estimates, not LIC quotations.

Frequently asked questions

Is LIC Jeevan Ankur 807 still available?

No. LIC withdrew Jeevan Ankur on 1 January 2014. Existing policies continue with all their benefits. For a current LIC child plan, look at Jeevan Tarun 734 or Amritbaal 774.

Who is insured in Jeevan Ankur?

The parent is the life assured and the child is the beneficiary. The parent's entry age is 18 to 50 years and the child can be from 0 to 17 years old.

What happens if the parent dies during the term?

The sum assured is paid immediately, and in addition the child receives an income of 10% of the sum assured every year until the end of the policy term. With ₹5 lakh cover, that is ₹50,000 a year.

How is the policy term decided?

The minimum term is 8 years or (18 minus the child's age), whichever is higher. The maximum is (25 minus the child's age). So for a 5-year-old, the term can be 13 to 20 years.

What do I get at maturity?

The basic sum assured plus loyalty additions, if LIC declares them. Loyalty additions are not guaranteed; the calculator uses an adjustable assumption.

Were riders available with Jeevan Ankur?

Yes. An accident benefit rider and a critical illness rider could be added for extra premium to increase protection for the parent.
